Website Research
17.03.18
The design for the Website is very basic as it’s not very colourful and the typography is very bland. Just like the text and the use of colour, the layout of everything is also very bland as the text is all laid out in one row with only a few pictures. The target audience for this website are tourists that are parents.
The pictures used in this website are very amateur as that text is bland and isn’t that clear. The photo is also in poor quality which makes the website look unprofessional. What I like about this website the most is that it is very informative despite the font of the text is very bland. This helps the viewers gain a much better understanding of what the website is trying to offer. To improve this website, they could make it look more professional. This could be done but making the fonts stand out more, adding more colour to the website and adding better quality photos.

The design for the Website is much more professional looking than the other website as this one contains high-quality pictures, much more colour and a much more detailed layout. The target audience for this website is mostly tourists with families as the website features things like “London for kids” which is somewhere tourists can take their kids. What I like about this website is the use of colours as pictures used in this makes the website look very colourful which also helps grab the viewers’ attention. To improve this website, I’d make the website more animated e.g. when you hold the mouse on one of the pictures it will show a gallery of what’s there when you click on it.
Poster Research
For my final major project, I will be using the style of this poster as inspiration for mine. What I will mostly be using as inspiration is the border around the picture. Also the use of colour in my poster and the text placement will be very similar. I also will be using the typography as inspiration, as it I believe it looks simple yet styled and matches the with the posters colours very well.
This is one of the posters I found during research. What I like about this poster its simplicity. The fact that is silhouettes with some colored red and others black, and also the font which further inspires me to use a simple but styled look.
This is another website I researched. I believe it looks good because of how its illustrated and very colorful. This inspires me to make mine to be colorful to appeal to my target audience.
Typography
This is an example I researched for my typography. I personally Like its style as its very fancy looking and would suit my Posters very well. This font will most likely be used for the sub headings and not the text for information.
TV Video Advert
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIVDxL2lgN4
From watching this, I can see many things that define this as an advert. The length of the video is one example, as one minute is the usual length for advert and a suitable length to keep the audience’s attention. Another thing among the others, is the background music which is also usually present in tv adverts.
London trip photos
These are the photos I've taken during the London trip, which I used a Camera given by the school. During this trip I took many pictures of the many different places we visited. We firstly visited the modern areas and took some pictures from the museums, then took pictures from the older areas.
Photos I've taken
These are the photos I've taken in central London. Most of these photos were taken in central London as I believed that most of the top attractions were going be there. I took more than one shot for each attraction to pick which looked the best at different angles. Due to the some of the areas being rebuilt, (big ben, the house of Parliament) I had to exclude them from the final poster as I believed it will be suitable and will fail to attract my audience.
London Eye
Downing Street Gates
National Gallery
Trafalgar Square
Big Ben
House of Parliament
River Thames
I believe that my research went very well as I believe the research that I have gathered throughout the time planning my FMP has given me ideas and inspiration on how I will create my posters. The websites help me know what type of information I can insert into my posters and the posters help me with my design, layout and typography. I believe could have done a bit more research in the future. Most of the posters and typography I collected during my research have colours and typography that are smart and use darker colours as they will hopefully appeal to my audience.
